I love this letter to the editor in the HJ News today! It says it all, no need for my thoughts. I fully agree! The best part is in red!

"God bless America and our troops

To the editor:

Despite recent letters clearly designed to weaken America, conservatives are neither delusional nor in denial. One of the sharpest minds of our time, Thomas Sowell, sums it up with rapier-like clarity: “It is usually futile to talk facts and analysis to people who are enjoying a sense of moral superiority in their ignorance.”

There is simply not enough room permitted in this forum to dispute all the misinformation belched by those “drive-by” assaults, so permit me to simply hold up a mirror to what you believe.

To be a liberal you have to want to ban cigarettes and legalize cocaine. You believe that “In God We Trust” is a misprint. You believe that pornography is a Constitutional right but religion is not. You ban the Bible from school and pass out condoms. You hire a surgeon general who wants to teach children to masturbate. You aid teen girls with abortions and deliberately keep the parents uninformed. Abortion on demand is a right and the unborn have no rights. You believe that business creates oppression and government creates prosperity. You believe Americans with guns are more of a threat than giving our nuclear technology to the Chinese government. You believe that gender roles are artificial but being homosexual is natural. You believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The list goes on and on, ad nauseum.

I do not agree with President Bush on everything, but he is a patriot. He has defended our country. Have you people forgotten that we were attacked? Is there any question in any rational mind that, given their way, our enemies will remove us from this planet? Appeasement has never been the answer when dealing with evil. It galls me that so many are willing to rip America apart! The soldier, not the reporter, is why we have freedom. If you have any question about the bias in the media, go to the following Web site, http://www.aish.com/movies/PhotoFraud.asp . It should remove any doubt.

Letting yourself be governed and guided by these “fairy tales” called polls has turned your “sword of truth” into an ineffective, broken two-by-four. It would almost be considered comical if your intent weren’t merely to aggrieve. Open your eyes. Personally, the thought of going back to “it depends on what your definition of ‘is’ is” makes me shudder and puke! Who really is delusional and in denial? You can be guaranteed it is not our president. God bless America and our troops!

I called Mr. Kerr to discuss his letter last night. He told me how much opposition he received from the editor of the HJ and how long they waited to print his letter. His experience was very similar to ones that I have had with the HJ. I do not want to get into personnal attacks, but the editors of the HJ have a clear elitist attitude which one finds throughout the media. Their failure to present any kind of a balanced viewpoint with their editorial page is clear and the fact that they cannot even see this speaks volumns.

The problem with the letter is that, rather than actually presenting arguments for debate, it is merely a large personal attack directed against those who agree with any of the names issues, or disagree with anything else in the letter.

Were I to speak with Mr. Kerr, I would ask that he present support for his contentions rather than simply condemning his opponents as unpatriotic.
