I read a letter to the editor the other day in the Herald Journal that stated exactly how I feel about Main Street in Logan.  For those who have to travel from one end of the valley to the other they too share the same feelings I do ( I hope).  My complaints are many.  To start, I am sick of all the Stop Lights.  I realize that it is important to have access to Main St. from side streets.  Stop signs are not the safest way to allow people onto the street, but, the timing of these lights is terrible and often times creates more traffic.  Second is just that.  The traffic.  People aren't going away.  The valley is just getting more populated and there does not seem to be a resolution in the near future. (I believe 2010 was when there should be a by-pass).  Third, the "Storage Lane".  I am not 100% sure on this, but I believe it is a left turn lane.  Therefore you should not enter Main Street and go into the median.  If you can not enter into a lane of moving traffic, then you should not enter Main Street.  This is a particular hazard on SR-91 infront of the New Macey's.  People pass through the intersection, a perfect place to safely turn left and enter Macey's, yet they pass through the intersection and attempt a left turn from the median into Macey's.  They also exit from this same spot and try to enter traffic via the left turn lane heading south.  Add in those who are coming from the south northbound and would like to turn left at 1200 south toward BlackHawk.  It is a disaster waiting to happen.  Fourth and Finally for today...  People drive too dang slow.  Main Street is 35 mph from Dominoes to Dominoes.  South of Dominoes and the Logan River it is 45, North of the Dominoes and the Mall it is 45.  Yet the majority of people go 25 to 30.  This really  makes for congestion and also pushes my Road Rage button.  I can't stand being on a road stuck behind someone with clear road ahead of them and they are window shopping, or talking on their cell phone doing 20 Mph.  Unless you are one of the Cell Phone Jerks you have probably been stuck behind some one like this.  That brings up another topic but I can discuss it another time.  Cell Phones and Cars!  Illegal!!!

I agree with your assessment and this was an issue brought up at the Republican County Convention. They really do need a bypass. I personally use 6th West most of the time when leaving town and use 2nd E when going between 1800 N and 400 N. Sure it is slower but there are a lot less lights to worry about. The biggest problem I have with drivers is they don't pay attention. Is it really that hard to just pay attention? I like to race cars through the intersection when the light turns green and I usually win. The sad thing is that I'm on a bike.
