A CALL TO ACTION!

Personal Responsibility

Of all of the troubles facing America, the cause of at least 90% of them can be traced to one issue. That is a slow rejection of the concept of personal responsibility. This slow process actually began, as far as I can determine during the 1920’s. It coincides with the growth of government and the failure of our nation’s leaders to support personal responsibility verses their own personal gain. No better example of this is the rise of the personal injury attorney. Many American’s seem to view this whole issue as a personal lottery. All you have to do is “win” a large damage settlement and you are then sent to easy street. Of course we all pay by higher prices for goods. And many juries buy into this concept by awarding large settlements on for the flimsies of reasons. Of course gambling or “gaming” as the industry prefers, is another example of this problem. Government entitlements and subsidies programs further this rot which has nearly destroyed the foundation of this great nation. Of course the Democratic Party benefits more from this concept in that it receives vast amounts of monies from personal injury attorneys lobbying organization, but the Republicans are far from immune. In fact our senator Hatch receives a considerable amount from this group.

Our educational system also reinforces these beliefs as well. There constant propaganda about the “great FDR”, Social Security, and even their love of governmental education all fit into this system. The one primary function of government which they do not support is of course National Defense! Look at the Senates response to the immigration issue. It seems its leaders are fighting over who can do the most pandering to the Hispanic Community in return for votes. Ultimately the American people are the ones to blame, in that they seem to support the concept of something for nothing, and are constantly being bribed by politicians. That is why “pork barrel projects” have grown so much. The most recent example has got to be the greatest enlargement of government entitlements since LBJ’s Great Society initiative, and we all know what a successful program that was. This of course is the Medicare benefit for prescription drugs. This was all done at the behest of the Pharmacy industry. Of course the Major Media (MM) are great advocates of big government. It totally fits in with their liberal agenda. A good example is their constantly referring to “cuts in social programs” when all Congress has done is slow the growth of these programs. As I am sure you are aware, this kind of giveaway thinking cannot continue for ever. Soon the number of workers in this country supporting Social Security will be down from the current 7/1 ratio to 2/1. Can you imagine the wailing and mashing of teeth that this will lead too!

Between the severe cuts in benefits and the large amounts of additional deductions from the workers paycheck no one will be happy. The concept of personal accounts is an example of how the Democrats depend on voters sucking up to the governmental tit. They fought it tooth and nail. Why, because such a program would slowly have weaned the public from relying on the government. Once people saw how much more successful this program was, compared to the old way, they would start to clamor for more such programs. The Republicans have constantly shown how weak kneed they are by not fighting harder for this. Once again, the ability to get reelected trumps the American Peoples interests. Will we ever learn?

Peace

Good point,

Cache County is a good place to start. The Tax and spend entitlement policy around here alone is off the charts.

Well said John.
